ALL IN with God

A3 recently reviewed our values. What a fascinating journey and valuable learning experience it was! We spent hours in dialog throughout the movement at every level: volunteers, staff, alumni, faculty, board and reference council. It was nothing short of amazing to see things come together.

As we honed the various nuances and prioritized down to three core characteristics, we came up with three core values. The first is this: ALL IN with God.

“We are committed to building and nurturing a love relationship with God—a relationship of the heart as well as the head. We long to experience God spiritually and emotionally as well as intellectually. This love relationship rows lifelong disciples of Jesus—men and women of God whose lives and ministries flow out of being rather than just doing.

What is the secret sauce of A3?

Some have asked me, “Joe: What is the secret sauce of A3.business? Is it leadership selection? Is it vibrant learning communities?” While those may, in fact, be key to our fruitfulness, I would argue even deeper that the single most profound concept that shapes A3 is this idea: that we are ALL IN with God.

We remind ourselves so often of the truth from Jesus found in John 15:5 —

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

Everywhere I travel, visiting key leaders with A2, this one profound truth has impacted lives and leaders so powerfully. At first it was a little surprising: shouldn’t all Christians and especially pastors know this simple truth! As we remind ourselves regularly, it is only in the depth of our “Love Relationship with God” that our lives, our families, our churches, our communities and our nations will see transformation.

This is the secret sauce of A3. It is rooted in a deep love relationship with Jesus!

Joe Handley

President at A3.business

Dr. Joseph W Handley, Jr. is currently president of A3.business. Joe was born and raised in Southern California. He attended Azusa Pacific University (APU) where he earned a B.A. in psychology and an M.A. in Theology. Joe served nine years at APU where he was the founding director of their Office of World Missions and leader of one of the first multi-national high school mission congresses in Mexico City in 1996. The Lord then called him to Rolling Hills Covenant Church in 1998 where Joe served as the Global Outreach Pastor and later the Associate Pastor for Outreach Ministries. In 2008, Joe answered the call of God to become the president of A3, a leader development movement that began in 1967 which launched A3.business in 2015. Recently, Joe completed his Ph.D. in Intercultural Studies at Fuller Theological Seminary.
